  1. I can recall vividly and fondly how my course mates supported my learning while I was pursuing my master's degree in TESOL. We formed a study group where we meet regularly to discuss our assignment questions, analyse past year examination questions and help brainstorm the topics of our research questions. It was very fruitful, fun and definitely a fantastic group to work with.
To ALL of you - Roger, Chin, Layteen, Junie and Tat - Thank You for supporting my learning

  3. Hi sir...Shamien's here

Well. to be precise, I am very lucky to have such great friends who are very hardworking here. So, when I see them learning something new, or even completing their work, it gives me urge to complete my work too. Then, If I am unsure of certain things, they are so helpful and they responded well to my questions. They are not stingy with their knowledge and understandings. There are times when we needto work in group, and with their cooperation and tolerance, everything went well. I too on the other hand hoped that I am one of the elements that helped my friends with their studies.

My family helps me by giving me strength to keep on studying and becomes my place for reference because my mom and aunt has something to do with TESL.So, in short, other than my beloved lecturers, I refer to these person when I need some guidance in doing something. For lecturers, they play major part in my life because they introduced the study concept for TESL subjects.

  6. Yes, you are correct, sir, my friends do help me a lot. During my secondary school year, my friends will always help me in my studies whenever I didn’t understand some science concepts. They can even slowly explain to me how to solve an Additional Maths question. In IPG, when I faced problem in doing assignments or not understanding some questions, they are always the place where I can refer my questions towards them. My friends will also urge me to do my homework if I’m lazy to do it.

My family members do helped me a lot in my learning too. My dad always helped me in Chinese history while I was in secondary school. In understanding the Chinese history well, then I can understand the passage in my textbook better. My mom do helped me in my primary life too. In addition, my first English teacher in home is my mom as she was the only one who was English educated in our family.

Lastly, lecturers in IPG helped me a lot too. Sir Hussein can always tell us a lot of interesting history and the background of the writers or the poets as this kind of things can really help me a lot in mastering the story well. Madam Mariah teaches her students well too. She always gives us the moral support and tells us that we can do it as the supportive energy from someone is very important for teenagers.

Within this, the people around us can really help us a lot as we might need their experience in doing something that we are not expert in it.

  8. Ya....that's absolutely true. When we are having difficult time while studying, our family members' support are the most soothing element. They can just understand our problems and be the listener. I still can remember what my mother did when I had my exam during my secondary school time. She will often assure me that it is okay to rest after a long time studying. If not for her, I will stay all night awake studying the notes. What I did not expect was that my friend effort also do me a favor. When I saw her studying beside me, I will do the same as her or even discuss the difficult topic with her. That was the most enjoyable time during my study life. The lecturers also help me a lot in understanding the topic and give me good advices. Well, I suppose no one can stand alone and do all the studying by herself without any supporting elements. They totally help me a lot in my progress in study.

  10. I do agree that family, friends and lecturers help one in improving their learning skills.Based on my experience, when i was in secondary school,my family especially my mum and dad supported me financially by buying reference and exercise books. They also sent me to several tuition centres in order to improve my grades.Apart from that,my parents also did support me emotionally by giving me advises when i was too depressed during my examinations in secondary school. They gave me an extra attention whenever I faced difficulties in coping with difficult subjects or topics. In the other hand,i really do appreciate my secondary school friend who helped me in improving my learning skills.Me and my friends always revise our lessons together. We also formed a group of 5 in order to carry out study group.Besides that,we also shared our ideas and creativity in doing assignments. As for the lecturers, they helped me to improve my language a lot. Thanks to Mr.Hussein who actually inspired me to use English language in my daily daily life.It actually improved my language skills a lot. There are also other lecturers who willed to give comments in my assignments and course works which made me to improve my language a lot.

They always help me to make a better essay and help me to use appropriate language when speaking using secondary language. Sometimes I need them to correct my mistake in learning. They also give me strong spirit to become a better learner like some of them or maybe better than themselves. I take some of example from them to become a good student. Being brave, clever and consistent.

Last but not least, the lecturers. I am glad having the best lecturers like you and others. The lecturers are very open with their student and can accept the student’s opinion. Other than that, they also always persuade the students to become a positive and analytical student. Sometimes I am very impress with lecturers here because they all are good thinker. (^_^)! They give me support to become a better learner and their style of teaching and their intention make me wants focus on my learning process.

In a nutshell, family, friends and lecturers and very important person in my life to make sure that I am in right way of study.

actually lecturers are the main people who helps me in my study. i love the way they approach the students. that is why i love to be a TESL student. the lecturer that i love the most is madam Mariah. i admire her very much. i like the way she teach us the thesis statement and topic sentence. now i realize that writing an essay is an easy task. now i know how to organize the structure of an essay.

i always do my homework with my friends. we discuss the work together. each time when i do not understand any topic they always try their best to help me. i love my friends very much.

  14. Hi Sir...
I am totally agree with the statement that family, friends and lecturers do support me in my learning process.

Born as the youngest child in the family, i do received a lot of attention and support from my family. They introduced me with books since i'm 2 years old, and perhaps their act had influence me to have some interest to read. My parents also show their concern with my grades by sending me to extra classes especially during the crucial year of my study(Standard 6, Form 3, and Form 5). They also spent a lot of money just to ensure that I had enough reference books. Although both my mother and my father just got their education until primary school, they know about the importance of education. Because of that, they always motivate me so that my future will be better than theirs. Sometimes, my mother will accompany me as I am doing my homework. Although I know she can't help me if I got stuck in certain problems with the subject, but her existence beside me really make me feel comfort.

Besides, I would like to share some of my experience during my secondary school. Compared to other girls in my class, I am the laziest among them. I didn't do my homework completely and didn't do extra exercises. But, I am so lucky to have such great friends that always remind me to do all those works. There was a friend of mine who will forced me to join him to study. He will ensure that I will complete my homework (especially the subject of Additional Mathematics and Engineering Drawing which I hate the most (; ). Because of their concern, I managed to get a better grades in both subjects (at least I didn't fail the subject :P )

Last but not least, my teachers also gave the full support towards my learning. They constantly motivate me. I remember about my Form 3 Maths teacher. He knows that I am weak in algebra and I wouldn't do any algebra exercise. So, after he explained everything to the whole class and gave us the exercises, he will sit in front of me and guide me to finish all those exercise. And I think, all my teachers in my previous schools do support me in their own way. Some of them offered to lend me their reference books. The lecturers in this IPG also help me in my learning process, especially in learning English. They always help us to enhance our thinking skill and help me to gain more confident to speak in English.

    In conclusion, people that surround me gave me lot of support in my learning progress. (;

  15. hi sir..I agree with you that friends, family members or lecturers can support me in learning process.

First of all I have my experience when my friends helped me in supporting my learning. I still remember when I'm in form 5 we formed a study group everyday even during weekend too.We share n discuss through the topic that we thought hard to understand. We also do like a story telling part when we divide the topics among us and we need to tell our group members what the topic about. Besides that, we photo state the notes from different tuition centre and we have the discussion on it. Other than that we did the short notes and mind map and we exchange them among us. Even though there are only short notes but they are useful too. It was very interesting and fun when we can work together like that until the SPM.

Next is my family members. Yes its true family members do helped me in my learning process. My mother and father help me a lot to make sure that I get what I have learned either from school or from tuition centre. My father paid my tuition fee so that I can have better understanding in my learning process. He never refuse to sent me to the tuition centre too. Besides that, my mother help me too although not in learning process. She makes sure that I get enough healthy food because she worried if I get sick.

Lastly is my lecturers. They helped me a lot to make sure I get what they taught. They lead me to better understanding so that I will never left behind. They teach me how to score how to make the mind map and so on.

I can conclude that friends, family members and lecturers help me in learning process. Thanks a lot to them..

  17. Hello sir !I certainly agree with your statement above..Family, friends and lecturers do help a lot in order to support me in learning..

I was not born in speaking family. Both my parents are not trained in this language. This is a kind of challenges for me. Sometimes i do feel a bit jealous with those who are coming from well-speaking family in their daily life. However, I am so glad because my parents are really supportive. They know that they don't know how to speak with their daughter using this language but they really support me in the other aspect like buy for me NST, English novels and CD. After I have finished my school age, they enrolled me to English class for 3 months since they realize that I really love this language. They also encourage me to enter IPG and be as a teacher because from this, I can deliver my knowledge for my students.

Then, my friends also helped me a lot. Being as a hostel students for 5 years, my friends are my right hand in learning. I am the one who always busy in school and always skip classes for certain things. Then my friend will copy down important note and exercise for me. They also will teach me a little bit about the subject that i have missed. Then i will go to see my teacher for further information. Here, in IPG I really thankful to all my friends around because they have courage and help me a lot especially in group discussion and coursework.

My lecturers also helped me a lot especially for those who come from English Department because it is compulsory to speak in English in their class. From here, I can train myself to familiarize and make fluent in speaking. They also will correct my mistakes during speaking. I can remember one of my lecturer said " English is not how fast you talk, English is how correct you talk ".

As a conclusion, I really thanks to my friends, lecturers and families. Thanks for being around and help me a lot.

  18. hi mr.choong i'm FAIZATUL NUR
actually, nowadays, friends play the main role in our life especially as student. friend is like a medium who can shape us. then, when we're very eager to learn, people who at first feels doesn't want to learn will also being interested too.so for me it's vice versa. therefore, when we are learning, friends are the first source of information before referring to anyone expert.
besides that, friends also help us for encouraging us and even being more supportive when we're learning new things.apart from that, we feel more comfortable to communicate with a friend compare to lecturer. therefore, make our understanding increase.

  19. hello sir..i agree with you. as normal persons, we need support in our life. so do in learning. my parents, friends and also lecturers play important roles in my study..parents always give convincing words.. friends are there to help me, when i'm in trouble..overall, i think, we do need some support from others to live life..

  20. hello sir ^^ it's flawless true that people around could support you in learning. when this topic came out, i suddenly remember bout one of my english teacher at my former school. when he knew that i wanna pursue my study at IPG, he encouraged me a lot. he kept giving me the spirit so that i believe that i can do it. he even felt so glad when i said that TESL is my choice. he asked me to participate in Spell-it-Right and to give the short speech in english during the English Society. at that time, when i can't talk fluently i realized that my speaking skill is horrible. but he kept put his trust on me. next, my best friends also encouraged me in my lesson. there's a girl friend that's extremely hardworking and she loved to make pocket notes of the subjects that need us to memorize a lot. her handwriting is so neat, seriously i'm still mesmerized with it. it's similar with the times new roman fonts in microsoft words !! therefore, i got the intention to be the same with her. i've learnt that a neat thing would make us feel happy to read again and again. besides that, my parents also support me. as both of them are English teachers, i prefer to ask them about the words that i dont understand. unluckily, they always ask me to refer to the dictionary myself. when i gave the excuses such as it took a long time to refer, they even bought me an electronic dictionary just to make sure i become INDEPENDENT. now, i realize about the advantage to try to do something myself first. then if lastly if i have to, then i ask somebody to help. that's all i can say O.O

  22. Hello Mr. Choong Chai Huat.
I'm strongly agree with you that family members, friends and even lecturers will support my learning.

In my family, they encourage me to study hard and never give up in my life. They support me whatever I'll do. Because they know what the best things that I need in my life. When I get into this IPG Kampus Pulau Pinang, my parents was very excited and I know they I can't break their heart anymore. So, I promise myself that I will learn and become a good teacher one day. Furthermore, when I was in primary or secondary school, they bought me many exercise books so that I can do a lot of exercises and it will support my learning better. They also send me to tuition to ensure that I will get more knowledge because in school, it is not enough. My mom always said that to me to be a better person in life and it makes me want to study hard.

Friends also an important medium in my learning process because about half of my life I'll always with mu friends. I was stayed at hostel ssince I was form 1 until now in IPG. So, friends will help me when I have problems in learning such as I can't answer one question and they will explain it to me. Without them I can't get the solution yet. Besides, I can do study group when I have friends. It will help me a lot.

Lastly, lecturers is one of the most important medium in my learning because lecturers will help me a lot to improve my language. I feel very lucky because all of the lecturers in this IPG encourage me to better than before.

In conclusion, my learning is not good without my family, friends and lecturers. They help me a lot in my learning. I appreciate what they have done to me. :)

  23. Hello sir, I agree with your statement that One aspect of learning is that it can be supported by those people around us. My family, especially my parent always help me in study. They buy me references books and exercise books to make sure that I have a good learning process. My parent both are teacher, so they know how to treat an average student like me to score in exam and study process. They helped me improve a lot in English. Sometimes they also communicate with me using English language. Otherwise, my friends also help me a lot in learning. I feel more confident when they give me support during my presentation. They know that I'm not so good in English, so they help me in giving ideas to make sure that I have point to speak . Lectures also help me a lot in study. They keep guiding me even I'm slow in class. Sometimes they ask me if I have any problem with the subject. I feel very proud to be here and I hope you will not give up to teach me more. TQ sir...

  24. Sir, your question really does catch my eyes!
I would definitely say that this is a good chance given for me by you to appreciate those who have helped yet still helping in improving my learning. Learning is basically a never ending process which has no fullstop as the saying goes learning from cradle to grave. Like everyone else, I started my learning since I was in my mother's womb and the reason why im telling so is that my mom likes to read and she read a ton of books when she was expecting for me. I believe that it has triggered my mind and develops me into a better child-being able to catch up certain knowledge without circumstances.

Besides, teachers have played a magnificent role in my entire life. Starting from kindergarten, till now teachers are the ones who drive me forward, inspire me, as well as boost me. I gain my self confidence through them as they know well about myself. Recently, I started admiring most of the lecturers from our institute especially those who are in the English Language Department. Most of them are multi talented and excellent speakers. They just deserve to be described as all rounders. I am considered very lucky to be here. The lecturers here are sporty, outgoing, fun and simply AWESOME and of them is YOU sir ! I just esteem your activeness, your style, the way you project yourself and the way you bustle into the classroom. All of them impact myself being a trainee teacher.I feel motivated everytime you enter the class and crack some silly jokes to make sure that we stay awake. I guarantee you a thing, nobody sleeps during your class! And this is the best proof to show that you have affected our learning in many positive ways. Not forgetting other lecturers who are always there to guide me. The words such as "Speak up"..."Improve more"..."Keep it up".."Good Job"..."Try harder"...which are being used by them really give me inspirations. I just wish to be like them in future so that I could be a role model for my students.

Here it comes, the best part of my live, non other than my beloved buddies. They are always there to support me in any things that I commit. There's always a YES from them. Group discussions, chit chats and conversations which sometimes go out of the topics do help me a lot in improvising my learning. We help each other in correcting our mistakes as well as sharing mindful thoughts.

Learning is a treasure which accompanies its owner everywhere. We are zero without learning. In this globalised era, people are competing among each other towards the goal named SUCCESS. The only tool that could help us in order to make this mission successful is LEARNING.
Thanks to everyone who has planted colourful flowers in my life. Without you, there's no me. Keep on boosting me, correcting me and inspiring me ! -Adioz-

  25. I agree with the statement. Lecturers, family members and friends do help me a lot in my learning process. Lecturers are the one who pass down knowledge and information to us. Besides that, they support our learning by giving us reading and studying tips and also advises. Since both of my parents are teachers, they support my learning by teaching me languages and science subjects too. My brother also teaches me maths since he knows i'm weak in maths. When I was Form 5, I studied together with my Form 4 brother and he helped me a lot in revising form 4 syllabus. Undeniably, friends help me a lot too. They support my learning by giving me advise and doing revision together. We share our knowledge together and learn through sharing. ^^

  26. I've been through many hardships while studying alone and I strongly agree with you that our family members/friends and even lecturers are supporting me in various ways available.

I am not the kind of person who can absorb all those informations in a day, and this is when my friends play their roles. For example, when I was in highsch, I did so badly in Maths that a friend of mine is willing to spend his past time as my tutor. Not everyone can pull out this act dear sir, you see, because some people value their time more than anything else, but this person actually sacrificed his time for the sake of others. Family members help too, although they can't do much, they morally support me. This give me the spirit to go through all the obstacles in studying and on every failures. This is obviously important for a young adult like me to survive in this world.

Friends, family, lecturers, teachers, they all helped me in order to succeed, whether I realize it or not.

i'm truly agree with your statement above where group discussion with friends helps alot in improving our learning. during group discussion, we will help each other where when one of us make a mistake, then the others will try to help, and this is where the process of learning occur. other than that, all my friends here are very supportive. as an example, when i am stuck and do not know how to go on, and sometimes feel like letting myself down, friends actually help alot in giving the spirits and support me so that i know what is the real reason for me to be here, in the college. the reason is, it is the way for me to learn and gain more. all my friends here also supportive by trying to share ideas together with others so that everybody got the point and can do the work. it does not mean when we share ideas, the product should be the same, but it brought something like, when we share ideas, anybody who are zero can feel like they got some hint to do the work on their own. so, the colaboration between each other also helps a lot. futhermore, friends also helps by giving some link or information about how we can get know about something for more. from my point of view, i cab see that all my friends here are very proactive and progressive. they are really kind and good. they will help if i seek for their help. i feel really glad to have such supportive and informative friends here. :)

first of all, i really agree with ur statement that family, friends and lecturers are helped us a lot on our learning process and we also cant be as success as we are now without their concern and their support.

for me, my family are the one who give me their fully support. they have never fail to remind me about what my future will be without knowledgement. by thier advice on this i have realize that learning process are the most important thing that i should do so that i will not become useless for the rest of my life soon.

next, my friend also have helped me a lot on my learning process. they all are very kind toward me, i mean here by giving and sharing their knowledge with me and they also helped me on something that i might be not really clear about. for example maybe in doing the assignment or task given by the lecturers.

last but not least the one who has affect my learning process is of course the lecturer. why i say so? this is because lecturers is the right person to correct my mistake on studying and give me more knowledge that i dont know.

so, for me i think i can conclude that all those people that i have mention above are really have thier own part to help me in my learning process and they also have a very special place in my heart because they all are a part of my life.

    that all from me ^^,

I think my family, lecturers n friends have supported me a lot in learning. Basically I realized that my English is improving towards the best in me with your help. Mr Hussein n Mdm Mariah encourage motivate me to speak English n I really need that confidence. I love English very much, it has been my favourite subject until today! but Sometimes I just dont know who to speak to as my grammar is very bad n I happened to hav an accent which I found rather awkward sometimes when speaking with my Malaysian friends. Because of that, my confidence started to sag until I stepped in this IPG. My family has always been encouraging me to speak English especially my dad n my siblings. They love English as much as I do too which makes it comfortable to talk to them about it. So, YES. i'd say friends, family, and lecturers do help in supporting in my learning. thanku :D

She also doesn’t like to see any of us not done our work. She never feel angry to teach us eventhough sometimes we keep repeated doing the same mistakes over and over again.

for me friends support my learning through helping and sharing with each other. we helps each other when we have trouble of doing assignment or in other cases. we share our knowledge when our friends do not understand anything. with friends, we also have our discussion to discuss and help each other with our coursework. we can also share new things among our friends. through that, we can get new information about something and add our knowledge to be a better person. besides that, friends also understand me well. whenever i make mistake, they will correct me so that i will not repeat my mistakes. if i feel lazy or shy to go to the library alone. friends are always there to accompany me. there, we can study together. now im starting to miss my friends at school.

  36. One aspect of learning is that it can be supported by those people around you. They can be your friends, family members or even your lecturers.

I'm totally agreed with the statement above. Friends, of course family members and not to be forgotten lecturers, they are the one who give me the strength to overcome the problems that I had to face during learning process. Without them, I don’t think I can be who I am today. Even though there is still a lot to learn, but I am so confidence that I am much better than before. Thank god there are people around me to support my learning.

First of all, I believe that all my friends are helping me a lot in my learning. They were as helpful as they can and responsible enough as a good friend. This is clearly shown in group discussion for example. They will always share their ideas and opinions with me in order to improve me. Other than that, friends help me to be more alert with the latest news and information; they will never left me behind. We among ourselves will have conversations in English; this will definitely improve our own grammar and pronunciation in English as I were surrounded by tons of English scorers. Love you guys, TESL ~ <3 .

My family members of course help me a lot in my learning process. My parents are always there for me especially in financial problem. They always want the best for me. They never feel reluctant to give me the money to buy book that is related to education. Other than that, my elder brother helps me in my English as he sometimes talk to me in English. On the other hand, my younger brother will refer to me when he is completing his English homework. This will of course help in my learning process.

Last but not least, lecturers. Of course lecturers are on the “People around me which help “list. Without lecturers, who else will provide me the knowledge and guidance in education?

In my opinion, people around me help me a lot in my learning process. I will always appreciate them as much as I can. Thank You.
